Did ya see it in it’s full glory last night. WOW I saw it last night and it was AWESOME. This full moon, following the Harvest Moon, is known as the Hunter’s Moon and also coincides with a supermoon. According to NASA, it peaked this morning.
What is the Hunter’s Moon?
Its name comes from ancient hunting practices: as crops were harvested and animals grazed on what was left, hunters would use the extra moonlight to stalk their prey. Deer, boars, and other game were easier to spot under the bold shine of the Hunter’s Moon, making it the ideal time to gather meat for the winter.
Unlike other full moons, the Hunter’s Moon rises with little delay on successive evenings, keeping the twilight illuminated. It’s not just a practical guide—it’s a signal of shifting seasons, hinting that autumn is in full swing and winter’s chill isn’t far behind.
