National Cheeseburger Day

We have Lionel Sternberger to thank for his invention. Sternberger? Well, he certainly had the perfect name for the job.

Here is the mouth-watering, delicious history Lionel was 16 years old in 1926, flipping burgers inside his dad’s sandwich shop, the “Rite Spot,” in Pasadena, California.  But, here’s where things get interesting. Lionel, out of curiosity, added a piece of American cheese onto a hamburger frying on the griddle.

What Cheese Burger would Walley chomp into? Thanks for asking. Here are a few FAV’s:

Benji Boy – Draft House, Newark. Cheese Steakburger – Bummies on Main, Newark. Gourmet Cheese Burger – Red Robin, Easton/Columbus. What about you email me your favorite Cheese Burger. waldo@wclt.com
