The Energy Cooperative hosted its fourth Kids Day event at The Works in downtown Newark on Sunday the 28th of June. The 4-hour event was held by the cooperative as a way to say “thank you” to the members of the cooperative and to provide a fun filled and memorable day for their children and grandchildren. The event was staffed by 75 volunteer employees of The Energy Cooperative along with The Works employees.
During the event, Dave Potter, President/CEO of The Energy Cooperative spoke about the event, “This is an opportunity for us to show our members we care about them and their families. After all, our members are our owners and we appreciate them. As a matter of fact, The Energy Cooperative has a lot of employees here today who are all volunteering their time, spending their day off, making this event successful for our members. As a cooperative our emphasis is the people we serve.”
Over 1,600 members of The Energy Cooperative attended the completely free event and enjoyed a day full of electric safety demonstrations by The Energy Cooperative’s Electric Safety Team, live music by Frosty Morning, magic shows by Stephen Knight, electricity shows with Joe Blankenship, a health clinic provided by Licking Memorial Health Systems, pony rides, crafts, face painting, bouncies, hot dogs, popsicles, popcorn, and free admission to The Works, a local showcase for history, art science and technology.
Numerous goodies and tee-shirts were given to each child and door prizes were raffled off throughout the day including gift cards and 4 new bicycles. The Energy Cooperative also signed up over 170 new members to the Our Energy, Our Future campaign.
