More than 3,500 customers of AEP were in the dark overnight, mostly in western and northwestern Licking County as a result of severe storms.

Numbers continue to fluctuate as they try to get the power restored to all.

Thousands more were without electric in Knox, Muskingum, Coshocton, Franklin and Fairfield Counties.

A WCLT weather spotter in the Johnstown area estimated winds about 60 mph when the storm plowed into the village just before dark.

NBC 4 weatherman, Ben Gelber believes the storms were carrying straight-line winds.

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting several areas of flooding in Franklin County.

It will be sometime after sunrise Friday before the damage can be determined.
