Northwest Licking County was hit with a severe thuderstorm about 9:30 tonight, bringing down trees and power lines.
A tree is onto a house on College Street, in Johnstown.
Several roads are blocked and littered with trees, limbs and electric lines.
AEP is reporting about 1,900 without power in Licking County, and over a thousand in Knox County. Franklin County has outages totaling over 7,000. A few hundred are "powerless" in Muskingum and Coshocton Counties.
Rainfall and storms in the Newark area have been mild by comparison. Northeast of Mt. Vernon, doppler radar estimates nearly 4-inches of rain today.
More storms are north and west of Licking County, but they appear to be a little weaker than the earlier ones.
