The Ohio Department of Transportation reports that the heat has caused asphalt to expand and burst on State Route 161, east of Route 310.

There is no estimate on how long the repairs will take.

The Highway Patrol and Licking County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene for traffic control.

Motorists are asked to take a detour to Route 310 because the aggregate substance used to temporarily repair the road is not suitable for heavy traffic.
