Licking Memorial Hospital is offering a weekend two-session Childbirth Education Class for expectant mothers on Friday, July 10, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, July 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The class will take place in the Ruth Ridout Room (third floor) of Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 West Main Street, in Newark. The cost is $60 per couple.

A childbirth educator will teach the class, focusing on the anatomy of pregnancy, ways to cope with labor, breathing exercises, guided imagery exercises, postpartum care and newborn care. Expectant mothers are strongly encouraged to bring a support partner to the class. They should also wear comfortable clothing and bring two pillows and a blanket with them each day.

Pre-registration is required, and class size is limited to 10 couples. Although it is recommended that women attend during their 30th to 36th weeks of pregnancy, they are welcome to take the class at any point. The class is ideal for both first-time moms, and moms who would like a refresher course. For more information, or to register, please call (740) 348-4346.
