Officials have broken ground for a new drinking water system for Buckeye Lake.
Licking County Commissioner Tim Bubb says that it is a huge issue for a village that has never had quality drinking water.
Bubb he adds the village received 5 million dollars in stimulus funds to the new system
“They were still big dollars in the hole in terms of this project. The EPA diverted some federal stimulus money to forgive some of the loans that the village would have paid back. In essence the stimulus money from the feds through the state EPA and into the local community is really to help with this project.”
Buckeye Lake has a population of about 3,000, making the village one of the largest in the state without a public drinking water system.
