Cabinet changes announced in Ohio's Statehouse.
Cabinet changes announced in Ohio's Statehouse.

Changes to the cabinet aren't just happening in Washington D-C... they're also happening at the corner of Broad and High.

Governor Taft has announced a New Year's ‘switcheroo' in his executive staff.

Lottery Commission Director Dennis Kennedy is resigning at the end of the year and will be replaced by Tom Hayes, the out-going Director of Ohio's Department of Job and Family Services.

Taft spokesman Orest Holubec explains Hayes' qualifications for the new job.

"A proven track record of being an excellent administrator. Director Hayes resigned a few months ago and the Governor asked him to stay on or he decided to stay on to lead the Department through the end of the year."

Holubec says Job and Family Services Assistant Director Barbara Riley is being promoted to the top spot in the state agency.

"She has decades of experience in the public and private sector and all that experience has been focused on serving children and families. Her career began as a child welfare social worker. She started as a government official in 1990 in the legislative budget office. She understands budgets."

Salaries for the new cabinet directors have not been set.
