Regional News from the Associated Press for July 3, 2009 COLUMBUS — There are still no clear signs of how Ohio's week-old budget impasse will end. A legislative panel is scheduled to meet again today on Gov. Ted Strickland's proposal to place video lottery machines at racetracks. Strickland says progress is being made toward a compromise on that proposal. CINCINNATI— Ohio health officials confirm that a Butler County man is the first person infected with swine flu to die in the state. They are not releasing the man's name. He was described as in his 40s. He died at Fort Hamilton Hospital. The man had other health problems that might have contributed to his death. CLEVELAND— Two more people have pleaded guilty in a public corruption investigation in Cleveland. Former county engineer's office employee Daniel Gallagher of Strongsville and businessman Brian Schuman of Bedford entered the guilty pleas. They will be sentenced later. COLUMBUS— Gay and lesbian Mennonites dressed in bright pink gathered with others outside the church's biannual convention in Columbus to criticize its leaders for trying to push them out. About 100 ministers and lay people prayed, sang hymns and spoke of feeling ostracized from the church at the protest.
