But those who can't travel north to see him live can catch him on the tube. His Memorial Day performance on the Fox News Channel's "Huckabee" will be included on the show's special Independence Day edition, airing tomorrow. Meanwhile, fans fortunate enough to be seeing McCoy live Saturday will also be treated to performances from Aaron Lines and Katie Armiger. And those attending the event Sunday will see Jason Aldean and Jamie O'Neal. The three-day Country Fever begins tonight with sets from Johnny Reid, Jessie Farrell, and Shawndel.
ALAN JACKSON MISSES OUT ON "CHICKEN FRIED"
Could you imagine Alan Jackson singing "Chicken Fried?" The singer notes the Zac Brown Band's breakthrough hit could have been his. He says producer Keith Stegall pitched the song to him, but he turned it down. Jackson says his response was, quote, “I like it but man I just had that song about cornbread and chicken, and I got a song about baloney. Every album I got these songs about food, man, I just don't think I wanna do a 'chicken fried' song right now.” While Jackson admits that he perhaps should have taken the song, he doesn't regret passing it up. The 20-year veteran says he likes Zac Brown and his band, and he's happy for the group for what the song has done for them.
JASON MICHAEL CARROLL'S UPCOMING ROCK CONCERT
Jason Michael Carroll is really looking forward to next Tuesday. That night Aerosmith will be performing in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina, and he's going to the show. The singer explains that for his birthday his management surprised him with the concert tickets. And Carroll is positively giddy as he adds, quote, “I get to meet the band – I'm stoked!” June 13th was Carroll's birthday. He turned 31.
